Horse trams could continue to run on Douglas Promenade for another two years - albeit on a slightly reduced route.
The Department of Infrastructure is asking Tynwald to support a £5 million package whilst discussions continue about the "long-term viability" of the service.
Under new plans the trams would run between Strathallan and the War Memorial - in tandem the department would begin to redevelop Loch Promenade:
Minister Phil Gawne says keeping them running would allow Tynwald to make a "fully informed and considered decision" based on three years of operational data.
He says that's not his way of passing the buck on making the ultimate decision:
Parcels may be hit by customs charges under EU rules
Number of police searches rises by nearly 37 percent
Broad to stand for Ayre and Michael
Road to beauty spot temporarily closed from today
Politician to query government income from medical cannabis
Police appeal over prom incident
Christian to defend seat
